On January 15, 1969 a group of prominent upper valley physicians’ surgeons, and businessmen opened the Carbondale Nursing Home, Inc. The facility was formerly the Hotel American, a Pioneer City landmark and was able to accommodate 105 residents. Carbondale Nursing Home was owned and operated by Joyce Kaufman for many years. In 1996, plans started for a new 115 bed nursing facility. In March of 1998 the state-of-the-art facility opened as Carbondale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center located at 10 Hart Place in Carbondale, PA. Our facility is Medicare and Medicaid certified which features an open courtyard on 12 Acres of land.
